Day-wise itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Istanbul
Transfer to Sultanahmet. Evening walk to the Hippodrome and the Blue Mosque exterior.

Day 2
Istanbul old city
Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar.

Day 3
Bosphorus and the new city
Cruise up the Bosphorus, then the Spice Bazaar, Dolmabahçe Palace and Taksim.

Day 4
Istanbul to Cappadocia
Short flight to Kayseri or Nevşehir. Afternoon at Devrent and Pasabag valleys and the Avanos pottery workshops.

Day 5
Cappadocia
Optional balloon flight at sunrise. Göreme open-air museum, the underground city at Kaymakli and the Uçhisar castle.

Day 6
Cappadocia to Pamukkale
Long transfer west, stopping at the Sultanhani caravanserai and Konya. Overnight Pamukkale.

Day 7
Pamukkale and Ephesus
The travertine terraces and Hierapolis in the morning, then across to Kusadasi. Afternoon at Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary.

Day 8
Return to Istanbul
Fly back from Izmir. Evening free for a last dinner on the water.

Depart Istanbul
Transfer to the airport.
